How ferries work in The Bahamas
The Bahamas has no single ferry schedule: each operator publishes its own times, fares and conditions, on its website, by phone or on social media.
Between Abaco and Grand Bahama, Pinder's Ferry Boat Service carries passengers from Crown Haven to McLean's Town and back. This site sets out each route's schedule, fares and both docks on one page, with links to the operator's own pages.
Fares are quoted per person, one way or round trip. The Bahamian dollar is pegged one to one to the US dollar; each page shows fares in the currency the operator uses, written B$ for Bahamian dollars and US$ for US dollars. Luggage over the allowance and freight can cost extra.
Schedules can differ on weekends and public holidays, and weather can delay, cancel or bring sailings forward. Where the next schedule is already published, the page switches to it on its first day; where it is not, the page says so. Times are shown in the local time of the departure dock, in 12-hour format.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, and storms can suspend ferries. Operators announce suspensions, and they appear here as a dated note when they were known at the time of checking.
